A full day of activities and performances took place at Elmfield House on Sunday 10th May celebrating the achievements of young people in Doncaster.
The event also included performances, videos and slide shows from groups who had received funding from the Youth Opportunities Fund during the last 12 months, showing all the positive activities that the YOF has enabled to take place
Performances from Rainbow Connections Singers, Starstruck Dream Project , the Hayfield Dance Group and the Conisbrough Castle cavaliers Marching Band, kept the 200 plus crowd entertained and displays and presentations from several grant recipients, including Bawtry Cricket Club, Campsmount Duke of Edinburgh Group and the Doncaster Scouts Sailing Group
The Youth Opportunities Fund is a government funded project where young people can apply for up to £2,500 to put postive activites in action in their community.
Last year 157 groups received funding for a wide range of projects including sports, drama, dancing, singing and musical groups. In addition several uniformed organisations and schools received funding for equipment and coaching. Allotment projects and residential opportunities were also supported.
The funding is available again this year and application packs are available from Elmfield house or can also be downloaded from the Near You page
