'V' Talent

Doncaster Youth Service has been successful in securing a £285,000 funding contract on behalf of the Local Authority from v (the national charity for youth volunteering) to deliver a two year full time volunteer programme (v Talent Year). The aim of the Programme is to expand opportunities for youth volunteering within the public sector and provide high quality, structured vocational placements for young people 16 – 25 years within Children and Young People’s Services.

• The opportunities will be structured, full-time volunteering lasting 44 weeks.

v Talent Year volunteering opportunities will:

• Be of interest to young people and have a community benefit;
• Have dedicated support from a placement supervisor,
• Give young people the opportunity to achieve a minimum Level 2 qualification,
• Provide structured reflection on skills development,
• Include residential training and reflection events with other young volunteers
• Offer advice and the opportunity to apply for a personal development grant at the conclusion of the programme to support progression.

v Talent Year is a National Programme 33 Local Authorities have been contracted to deliver this programme it commenced March 2009 and will conclude March 2011.
